MCola was born in Ngodini, Mpumalanga and grew up in Ivory Park. He attended primary school at Mpumelelo Primary School and high school at Ivory Park Secondary School and matriculated in 2013.
MCola started writing music in the year 2006 when he was doing grade 5 after being inspired by lil Wayne’s “Carter III” and Flabba’s “Nkuli VS Flabba” albums.
Not having access to studio resulted to MCola not recording any of his written from 2006 to 2012 but he never stopped.
It was in 2012 March when teamed up with his two friends Simphiwe and Khangelani to record his first ever 5 songs including “Dlala Nge flow” and “Skipa” that became his first songs to be released online for downloads in June 2012.
On the 28th of July in 2012 MCola got on stage for the first time to battle another artist at the 2nd Annual 1632 VS 1685 hip hop show in Tembisa.
It was on the 4th of August 2012 when MCola did his first public performance at the One verse one hearse hip hop show in Ivory Park, Midrand.
Following a good reception by music supporters MCola decided to go perform on YFM’s hip hop show “The Full Clip” that was hosted by Sizwe Dhlomo and Siyabonga Ngwekazi in September 2012, he returned for his 2nd performance the following month where he performed alongside eMTee, Maraza, Cashtime Fam and other hip hop acts.
MCola had to slow down with recordings, music and performances in 2013 as it was his Matric year.
His love for music led to him visiting the show again on the 28th March 2013 and 18th April. Not having enough time to write music only released “Gusheshe remix” in September 2013 which was well received and he decided it will make it to his debut mixtape.
MCola released “Siyayifuna” as the 2nd single release from his debut mixtape in July 2014, “Joburg”in September and “Abantwana” as the last single off his mixtape in October 2014.
MCola released his 1st album single “Akulalwa” in November 2014 followed by its music video in December 2014.
In March 2015 MCola was featured on “Mpintshi” by Riser, a song that made it to Slikour Onlife’s blog. His debut mixtape mixtape “Drop Out” was released on the 4th of August 2015.
